Program provides funding to young investigators of outstanding promise
Earlier this month, The Pew Charitable Trust announced the 2016 cohort of Pew scholars – exceptional early-career scientists in the biomedical sciences. Among the 22 scholars named was VHFC researcher Dr. Kristian Andersen, Assistant Professor in the Department of Immunology and Microbiology at Scripps Research, and Director of Infectious Disease Genomics at Scripps Translational Science Institute.
Dr. Andersen’s research focuses on understanding the origins and evolution of the Ebola virus in an effort to provide insights into preventing and combating future outbreaks.
The Pew Scholars Program provides funding to young investigators of outstanding promise in science relevant to the advancement of human health. In addition to issuing grants to support the innovative research of exceptional early-career scientists, the program promotes collaboration and mentorship within a thriving community of researchers.
